at DEC Fundraiser - CubaOcho, July 15, 2010

Our best chance to carry out President Obama's vision for America is by electing more Democrats to public office, and we need your help to ensure that Miami-Dade voters make history once again in 2010.

Please join the Miami-Dade Democrats and Organizing For America every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00p.m. to talk to newly registered Democrats on why it's important to vote in the 2010 election.

Our offices are in the Terranova Building, 801 Arthur Godfrey Road, Suite 402A, Miami Beach, FL 33140. There is plenty of FREE parking behind the building in diagonal spaces by Nautilus Middle School. Call 305-477-4994 and we'll buzz you in.

Letters to the Editor

POLITICS

Support the president

David Broder's June 18 Other Views column, It's still the economy, criticizes our president's performance. It starts with an attack against President Obama for his trips to the Gulf Coast, implying that his efforts amount to nothing more than image boosting. In previous columns, Broder criticized Obama for his absence at the scene.

All I can say is that Obama's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. When one stops to consider the utter chaos and disaster his administration inherited, the question begs to be asked: Who could we have elected to do a better job? John McCain? I think not. His choice of running mate spoke volumes to me, a registered Independent.

I am so very tired of reading negative, critical and, yes, racist articles about a man who is doing a heroic job to right the wrongs resulting from our last choice of president.

The Tea Party does not speak for me, nor do the people who make up today's Republican Party. The proof is in the pudding as they say. When the entire body of Republicans in the Senate vote to veto a bill from the president, it doesn't take a very sophisticated person to figure out what's going on. It is, in a word, disgusting.

SUZANNE McCALLUM, Key Largo
